Dubai Travel Guide: Everything You Need to Know

📅 February 20, 2026 ⏰ 7 min read ✍️ MiniWorld Travel Editorial

Dubai is an engineering marvel, a shopping destination, a culinary capital, and a study in human ambition taken to its absolute extreme. Thirty years ago, much of what is now downtown Dubai was open desert. Today it's home to the world's tallest building, the world's largest shopping mall, and some of the most ambitious architecture on the planet.

The Big Attractions

The Burj Khalifa at 828 metres is the world's tallest building — viewing decks on floors 124 and 148 offer vertiginous, spectacular views. Book online and opt for the sunset slot. The Dubai Fountain show at its base runs every evening — the world's largest choreographed fountain, shooting water 150 metres into the air. The Dubai Mall has an aquarium, ice skating rink, virtual reality park, and a full-size dinosaur skeleton inside it. For atmosphere, the Gold Souk and Spice Souk in Deira offer a glimpse of old Dubai with hundreds of gold shops and fragrant market stalls.

Desert Experiences

No Dubai trip is complete without a desert safari. An evening safari includes dune bashing in 4x4s, camel riding, sandboarding, a traditional Bedouin camp dinner with shisha, and a belly dancing show under the stars. For something more serene, a hot air balloon ride over the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve at dawn is one of the most peaceful and beautiful ways to start a day anywhere in the world.

Beaches and Water Parks

Jumeirah Beach is Dubai's free public beach with the iconic Burj Al Arab visible in the distance. The Palm Jumeirah has some of the city's best beach clubs and hotels. The Atlantis Aquaventure Waterpark is one of the best water parks in the world for families and thrill-seekers.

Food Scene

Dubai's food scene is world-class and extraordinarily diverse. For a truly local experience, head to the Al Fahidi historic district for Emirati cuisine — try machboos (spiced rice with meat), luqaimat (sweet dumplings in date syrup), and camel milk ice cream.

Practical Tips

Dubai is one of the safest cities in the world. Dress modestly when visiting malls, souks, or mosques. Alcohol is available in licensed hotels and restaurants. The Dubai Metro is clean, air-conditioned, and excellent value. July–August is brutally hot (45°C+) — November to March is perfect with temperatures in the low 20s. Dubai rewards an open mind.
